March 5-11 is National Groundwater Awareness Week
Excluding polar ice caps, 95 percent of all the freshwater in the world is groundwater; surface water sources (lakes and rivers) only make up three percent.
Our primary water source since 1927, Big Butte Springs, is considered a groundwater supply. The springs flow from the lower slopes of Mt. McLoughlin near Butte Falls, providing up to 26.4 million gallons per day of exceptional quality water that is consistently cold and clear.
