NOTICE: Temporary Office Closure as a Precaution to Safeguard Public Health

Medford Water Commission’s highest priority is keeping our employees, customers, and contractors/vendors safe and well-informed amid concerns about the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). We recognize that the service we provide to the Rogue Valley is vitally important to the protection of public health, and we are working hard to maintain this critical service.

As a precautionary measure, we are temporarily closing our offices to the public (effective Thursday, March 19, 2020), and are asking our customers, contractors, and vendors to use our many online and telephone options for doing business.

One of these alternatives should be used:

1 Water bills can be paid online at services.medfordwater.org,
over the phone 24-7 by calling 541-774-2430, or at one of our convenient drop boxes (click here for box locations)

2 Start or stop water service by calling 541-774-2430

3 Call us at 541-774-2430 or email
customerservice@medfordwater.org for other business; direct contact information for many staff members can be found here

Our employees will not be visiting homes or businesses as part of their work activities. This means that we will not be disconnecting water service for non-payment and are suspending late fees. We want to ensure that everyone has access to resources they need to stay healthy and take care of their families.

Customers are still responsible for water charges due now and those accrued during this temporary suspension and should continue to pay their bill. We provide annual grants to The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul and ACCESS for water bill payment assistance to qualifying low-income families. If you are having difficulty paying your water bill, we urge you to give any one of these agencies a call.

During normal business hours, our staff will continue to start/stop service at the meter as requested due to customers moving out, etc. Emergencies critical to water service (such as emergency shut offs or repairing line breaks) will be performed as needed, since this work can be done at the meter or in the right-of-way. If you encounter an employee in the field, please maintain a six-foot buffer of space.

For after-hours water service turn-ons due to a customer moving into a new residence, our standby staff will gather the necessary information from the customer over the phone and turn on the water at the meter; the customer will need to call our office in the morning to pay the required charges over the phone.

For other after-hours issues, standby staff will take all recommended precautions to reduce risk of contracting virus, and whenever possible talk the customer through the problem to avoid going on site to the home or business. Fees will be suspended at this time.

We will continue working hard to provide the level of service you have come to expect from our staff, and have taken several steps to help mitigate against possible adverse impacts within our organization as well, including but not limited to restricting meetings to telephone or video, and disinfecting office areas twice a day.

This is a precaution to keep our employees, customers, and contractors/vendors safe. It is presently unclear how long this restriction will remain in place, but we will continue to reevaluate and communicate regularly as the situation evolves.

We thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during this challenging time.
