Drinking Water Providers Partnership Brings Multiple Benefits Monday, December 05, 2022
Medford Water’s own Watershed Administrator Craig Harper was interviewed recently by Jefferson Public Radio regarding a restoration project on sections of Little Butte Creek, north of Medford. Made possible through almost 4 million dollars in funding for environmental projects from the Drinking Water Providers Partnership, the work will not only help to improve drinking water quality, but also to restore fish habitat in the creek, which joins the Rogue River near our intake. The river is used during peak-use summer months to supplement our primary water source, Big Butte Springs.
The Rogue River Watershed Council is undertaking the work, which includes removing invasive species, placing logs to slow erosion and filter out contaminants, installing livestock fencing, and more.
