Spring Start-up for Sprinklers

Sprinkler Start Up Although it is not generally necessary to water daily in the spring in our area, there are several recommended steps to take when restarting your sprinkler system after it has been shut down for the winter. It is beneficial to get these done ahead of the summer watering season, to look for damage and misaligned sprinkler heads that will increase water waste.

Spruce up your sprinkler system in four easy steps:
  • INSPECT sprinkler heads for breaks and leaks. A broken one can waste 25,000 gallons of water in six months.
  • CONNECT sprinklers, pipes, and valves well. A leak as small as the tip of a pen can waste 6,300 gallons of water per month!
  • CONNECT sprinklers, pipes, and valves. A leak as small as the tip of a pen can waste 6,300 gallons of water per month!
  • SELECT a WaterSense labeled irrigation controller so you can water smarter, and don’t forget about our smart controller rebate!

That's it! Accomplishing these four easy steps ahead of the summer watering season will help you spot problems that need to be addressed ahead of the summer watering season, and reduce water waste. You can also download and print this handy guide here:
