Don’t flush money down the drain! If you do need to replace an entire toilet, look for the WaterSense logo. With WaterSense certified toilets, you’ll flush about 70% less water than one installed prior to 1994, and 20% less than the current standard 1.6 gallon per flush toilet. You might find that you’ll save even more since hidden leaks in old toilets are very common. bit.ly/3K6kLHy #FixALeak

If your toilet does have a leak, the culprit may be the flapper!
Over time, this rubber part in the toilet tank decays and should be replaced every five years. It`s a relatively easy DIY project that will pay for itself in no time. Take a photo inside your tank to make sure you get the right one at the hardware store. #FixALeak
This #FixALeak Week, take five minutes and put your toilet to the test. Place a few drops of food coloring in the tank (not the bowl) and wait five minutes.
If color appears in the bowl, your toilet probably has a leak. Be sure to flush afterwards to avoid staining!
The weather is beautiful, but your lawn isn’t ready for regular watering just yet! The cooler evening temperatures in Southern Oregon and retained soil moisture are still doing the work for you, not to mention that rain is in the forecast over the next 10 days.
It IS the perfect time to check your sprinkler system for needed repairs or adjustments BEFORE the watering season, to look for damage that can cause excessive water usage. Go to bit.ly/4bhtGUm for easy-to-follow tips and other resources.

It’s Groundwater Awareness Week—March 8th through 14th, 2026—an annual observance highlighting the responsible development, management, and use of groundwater. Our primary water source, Big Butte Springs, is a groundwater source. Serving the city of Medford and surrounding communities year-round, the Springs are one of our community’s most valuable and significant resources. We’ve made it our mission to safeguard public health by providing a reliable, high-quality water supply at the best value, and protecting our water sources is an important first step.
Did you know that you play a part in protecting your groundwater too? Get 10 easy tips and learn more about Big Butte Springs and our Source Water Protection Plan at http://bit.ly/4bqZPrl.
To continue providing safe, reliable water service and maintain essential infrastructure, water rate modifications go into effect March 1.
