World Water Day
Today (March 22) is World Water Day, a day to celebrate water and raise awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water. This year's theme is groundwater; while it's not something we can actually see, its impact is visible everywhere. Groundwater feeds springs, rivers, lakes and wetlands, and seeps into oceans, supporting drinking water supplies, sanitation systems, farming, industry, and ecosystems.

Big Butte Springs, our primary water source, is considered a groundwater supply, flowing from the lower slopes of Mt. McLoughlin. Springs flows are collected underground and never see the light of day until emerging from our customers’ taps. The Big Butte Springs watershed encompasses approximately 88 square miles of forestland, which must be managed properly to safeguard drinking water for 140,000 people of the Rogue Valley. We are devoted to this work and collaborate with our many local and regional partners to get the job done.

We have protected these resources since our organization was formed in 1922; it is our Vision to be the Rogue Valley’s trusted municipal water provider for present & future generations, through responsible stewardship, accountability, & the pursuit of excellence.
