Medford Water earned our first WaterSense Award for Excellence in Promoting WaterSense Labeled Products in October 2024. We helped customers find ways to save water through their indoor audits, during which we provided free WaterSense labeled water-efficient showerheads and faucet aerators, as well as information about our WaterSense labeled toilet and smart controller rebate programs.
Our Water Efficiency Team also conducts sprinkler surveys; residents receive a free inspection of their sprinkler systems, as well as rebates to replace their old irrigation controllers with WaterSense labeled models. In 2023, we partnered with several hardware stores to promote our WaterSense labeled product rebates during Fix a Leak Week; thanks to these partnerships and promotional efforts, we rebated over 70 WaterSense labeled toilets in 2023. To increase the number of irrigation professionals promoting water efficiency in the area, we also held a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor class that also emphasized WaterSense labeled irrigation controllers.
Medford Water won Best Tasting Water in Southern Oregon in a competition held in March by the Southern Oregon Subsection of the American Water Works Association’s Pacific Northwest Section. Members of the subsection represent utilities ranging from small community water systems to systems serving over 100,000 users in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, and Lake counties.
Entries are judged by a panel of volunteers and ranked on criteria set by the American Water Works Association.
This award makes our organization eligible to compete in the region-wide competition in May, which includes participating water utilities from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, and continues a tradition of providing drinking water of the highest quality to our customers.
For the eleventh year, the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Medford Water by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for our Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The ACFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
GFOA has also granted the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for our FY22/23 Annual Budget. These achievements are the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and budgeting, and their attainment represents a significant accomplishment by an organization and its management. This makes Medford Water one of select states, cities, counties, special districts, school districts, and others across the United States and Canada that have been recognized for transparency in these areas.
Our Finance team–as well as many other staff–contribute to these documents and do a great job collaborating and making sure they are a useful tool both internally and externally.
Medford Water has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from Government Finance Officers Association of the United Stated and Canada (GFOA) for its annual budget. This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental budgeting.
Over 1600 governments across the United States and Canada, including states, cities, counties, special districts, school districts, and others have been recognized for transparency in budgeting. To earn recognition, budget documents must meet program criteria and excel as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication tool.
