Winterize your sprinkler system now to avoid costly damage later!
With temperatures dropping and more rain in the forecast for the coming weeks, irrigation should no longer be necessary.
It's time to start planning what to do with your sprinkler system for the winter, as we occasionally get an extreme cold spell that can do a lot of damage to components like sprinkler heads, pipes, and valves. In addition to this damage, running sprinklers during a freeze can create an icy hazard on your sidewalks. Winterizing your irrigation system now will help avoid these dangers later.
Medford Water Commission offers Winterizing Your Sprinkler System, an overall guide to preparing your sprinkler system for the cold weather ahead (there is a printer-friendly PDF at the bottom of that page, or call 541-774-2435 to have a hard copy mailed to you). While taking the recommended winterizing steps may not provide complete protection from freezing, they are worthwhile precautions to lessen the potential for damage.
If you see sprinklers running during the winter months, call us with the address and we will contact the property owner regarding the situation. If you have any questions or would like more information, email us or call 541-774-2435.
